Rider in a dark garage
LEARN / VIDEO TUTORIALS & GUIDES

Learn the platform.

Everything you need to get going — from your first upload to reading a fast lad’s throttle trace. Brian films the videos; the written guides below cover the same ground if you’d rather read.

Where are you starting?

Three routes through the same platform. Start where you are — you can do all three eventually.

Short, no-waffle videos filmed by Brian. New ones drop as the platform grows — anything marked filming is on the list.

// ACCOUNTCreating your account & picking your role
  1. Hit Sign Up Free. Facebook, Google or plain email — all three land you in the same place.
  2. Pick your lane. Rider if you want to sell your laps, Tuner if you're here to buy and study. You can switch later from your dashboard.
  3. Riders: add your race number, your main bike and your home country. That's what builds your Paddock card.
  4. Check your privacy. By default you appear under a username (e.g. Kade_12), never your full name. Nothing about your location or IP is ever shown to buyers.
// PROFILEBuilding your rider profile, avatar & bike photos
  1. Go to The Paddock → my garage.
  2. Build your avatar. Hit Build my avatar under your helmet and paint your own lid — shell colour, design, visor tint, backdrop and race number. It shows on your Paddock card and profile without ever showing your face.
  3. Add a photo of your bike. Every bike in your garage has an Add your photo button. Upload a picture straight off your phone; it appears on your bike card, your lap listings and your Paddock card.
  4. Photos are resized in your browser before they're saved, so a big phone photo won't slow the site down.
// SELLINGUploading your first lap
  1. Get the file off the logger. Connect your AiM logger (Solo 2 DL, MyChron, EVO) to Race Studio 3 and download the session — you'll end up with an .xrk file.
  2. Open your garage and scroll to Upload a new lap.
  3. Fill in the context: bike, track, championship and weather. Buyers filter on all four, so be honest — a wet lap sold as dry gets refunded.
  4. Set your price. It is entirely your call — most laps sit between £2.99 and £4.99, but you can charge whatever you think the lap is worth. The split calculator shows exactly what you take home after the flat 5% fee.
  5. Optional: flip the charity toggle to donate a slice of your share.
  6. Hit Upload Lap. It goes live on that track's scoreboard immediately.
// MONEYPricing, commission and getting paid
  1. One flat commission for everybody: GrabALap keeps 5% of the sale price and you keep 95%. It is the same on every tier — and you set the price yourself, so there is no cap on what a lap can sell for.
  2. Want to give something back? Tick Donate to The Lily Foundation when you list the lap and choose a percentage — it comes out of your 95% share and every penny goes to the charity.
  3. Your dashboard shows earnings per lap, per track and all-time.
  4. Connect your bank from the rider dashboard (Stripe Connect). Payouts run monthly, first one five days after your first sale.
  5. Buyers are refund-guaranteed, which is covered on our side — you don't carry the risk of a chargeback for a duff file.
// BUYINGFinding and buying the right lap
  1. Open Tracks & Scoreboards and pick your circuit. Each board is one track: every lap on it, fastest first, with all bikes and all engine sizes ranked together.
  2. Then filter by championship or bike if you want to compare against a machine like yours — the filter never changes how the board is ranked.
  3. Check the session and weather tags. A dry race lap is a different animal to a damp qualifying lap.
  4. Hit Buy. Stripe takes the payment and the lap unlocks in your vault straight away.
// VAULTStudying a lap you've bought
  1. Bought laps live in your library forever.
  2. Open a secure Race Studio session in the browser — nothing to install, and the seller's raw file never lands on your machine.
  3. Overlay their lap on yours. Start with three things: brake points (where they come off the throttle), minimum corner speed, and where they get back on the gas.
  4. Work one corner at a time. Most riders find half a second in two corners, not a tenth everywhere.
// SOFTWARERace Studio 3 — install and first import
  1. Download Race Studio 3 free from AiM (Windows 64-bit), or browse all AiM software downloads.
  2. Install and open it. Connect your logger by USB or Wi-Fi — it appears under Connected Devices.
  3. Download your session; it lands in your local database as an .xrk file.
  4. Open the session in Analysis to see your lap times, then add channels: speed, throttle, brake, RPM, lean angle.
  5. Use the lap comparison view to overlay two laps. That's the same view you get in your GrabALap vault.
// SUPPORTStuck? Ask Brian
  1. Anything the videos don't cover, message Brian on WhatsApp.
  2. Want a proper deep-dive on your own data? Brian does 1-on-1 data coaching — corner by corner, against the fast laps.
  3. Track missing? Request it from the Tracks page. Every approved track unlocks for the whole community.
